NHL Players union to form committee to review internal operations

Publish date:

TORONTO - The NHL Players' Association announced Friday it intends to form a committee to review and evaluate the union's internal operations.

The committee will consist of current NHL players Rob Blake, Nicklas Lidstrom and Mark Recchi. Chris Chelios, who recently signed with the AHL's Chicago Wolves, will also be part of the committee.

The union's Executive Board voted 25-5 passing a resolution to form the committee to "review NHLPA operations and submit its recommendations to the Executive Board of the NHLPA."

"Rob, Chris, Nik and Mark will convene a conference call in the next few days to determine: the nature and extent of the review; the advisors who will be recommended to be retained to assist them; and the next steps to take," the NHLPA said in a statement.
