TORONTO - Television viewers are about to be taken on tour with NHL Players' Association.

A one-hour documentary will air Saturday (CBC, 1 p.m. ET) that chronicles the whirlwind 10 countries in 10 days tour a group of former NHLers went on last month. Rob Zamuner and P.J. Stock travelled more than 19,000 kilometres to hand out 360 sets of hockey equipment to kids on behalf of the NHLPA's Goals & Dreams fund.

They were joined by a long list of former players at various destinations. The entire experience was documented by a CBC camera crew.

"(It's) a perfect way to tell the touching stories that our 10 countries in 10 days team experienced during our travels," said Devin Smith, chairman of the NHLPA's Goals & Dreams program.

The group made stops in Sweden, Finland, Russia, Latvia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bosnia and Germany before wrapping up its tour in New York and Toronto. In total, they donated $180,000 worth of equipment as part of the 10-year anniversary celebration of the Goals & Dreams fund.

Since being launched in 1999, the program has contributed $17 million worldwide and reached more than 40,000 kids. The money comes entirely from the members of the players' union.
