Connor McDavid had the best game of his young NHL career last night with three points in a 5-2 Edmonton Oilers win over the Calgary Flames.

But this Jonas Hiller save ruined what probably would've been the nicest goal of the season so far.

The Oilers were already up 4-1 early in the third period and McDavid already had a goal and an assist when the 18-year-old rookie stripped Flames defenseman Brett Kulak of the puck at the offensive blueline, broke into the zone with speed, stopped to avoid Calgary defenseman Deryk Engelland sliding past into the corner, then stickhandled from the right to the left side of the crease.

With the Flames' goaltender Hiller sprawled out flat on the ice, McDavid had a wide open net in which to bury his second goal of the evening, but Hiller stuck his paddle out at the last possible moment to absolutely rob McDavid of a sure goal.

McDavid and the Oilers got the last laugh, though, as the youngster later notched his second goal of the night anyway with less than four minutes to play to put the game out of reach for the Flames.

Ladies and gentlemen, Connor McDavid has arrived.
