Ottawa Senators name Brent Flahr as director of hockey operations

Flahr's responsibilities will include scouting operations, planning and day-to-day hockey administration, the NHL club announced Thursday. Flahr will also work closely with GM Bryan Murray and assistant GM Tim Murray.

Flahr, 33, has spent the last four seasons working as an amateur scout for the Anaheim Ducks. From 1996 to 2003, he spent eight seasons as part of the Florida Panthers organization, serving in a variety of positions, including assistant to the general manager, and scouting and video co-ordinator. He was also the director of hockey operations for the Panthers' AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.
