Pats get forward Cody Gross from Edmonton for goalie Tommy Tartaglione

REGINA (CP) - The WHL's Regina Pats have acquired forward Cody Gross from the expansion Edmonton Oil Kings for goaltender Tommy Tartaglione.

Gross, 18, was selected by the Oil Kings during Tuesday's expansion draft. The Winnipeg native had six goals and five assists in 55 games with the Prince Albert Raiders this year.

"We have very good depth in goal, and we needed to improve our depth at forward in our 1989 age group," Pats general manager Brent Parker said in a release Wednesday. "Cody will really add to our team speed and has some offensive upside.

"We wish Tommy all the best, he was a tremendous team guy and this will give him a chance to be a starter in the WHL."

Tartaglione, a 19-year-old California native was appeared in 22 games with the Pats this season, compiling a 10-5-1-0 record. He posted a 2.88 goals-against average with an .899 save percentage and three shutouts.
