Penguins send 11 players to top farm club; must make 7 more roster moves

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned forwards Brett Sterling, Chris Conner and Tim Wallace, defencemen Corey Potter and Steve Wagner and goaltender John Curry to their Wilkes-Barre/Scranton farm club.

All six must pass through waivers before they can join the AHL team.

Pittsburgh also assigned forwards Nick Johnson and Joe Vitale, defencemen Robert Bortuzzo and Brian Strait and goaltender Brad Thiessen to the AHL club in reducing its roster to 30 players.

The Penguins must make seven more roster moves before starting the season Oct. 7 against Philadelphia.
