Peter Mueller scores, adds two assists to lead Coyotes to 4-1 win over Kings

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Peter Mueller had a goal and two assists, and the Phoenix Coyotes beat Los Angeles 4-1 on Wednesday night to snap a four-game losing streak.

It was the second three-point game for the 19-year-old rookie. Mueller knocked a rebound past goalie Jean-Sebastien Aubin to put Phoenix up 3-1 at 11:03 of the second period. It was the eighth goal for Mueller, Phoenix's first-round pick in 2006.

Steven Reinprecht, Radim Vrbata and Shane Doan added the other Coyotes goals.

Michael Cammalleri scored his 13th goal for the Kings, who have lost nine of 11.

The game matched the teams with the fewest points in the Western Conference.

The Coyotes have won the first three games between the Pacific Division rivals.

Reinprecht scored to give Phoenix a 1-0 lead at 11:11 of the first period. Reinprecht picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone, skated in and fired a shot through Aubin's legs.

The Coyotes made it 2-0 on Vrbata's power-play goal three minutes later. Vrbata scored on a rebound of Ed Jovanovski's slap shot from the blue line.

Phoenix's Doan scored an empty-net goal at 19:17 of the third period.

Notes: Phoenix defender Nick Boynton picked up two assists and his 100th career point. ... Phoenix played at Jobing.com Arena for the first time since Nov. 24. Wednesday's game was one of two at home in a 12-game stretch. ... The Kings played without left wing Alexander Frolov, who missed his sixth straight game with a groin injury. ... The teams meet again on Saturday night in Los Angeles.
