The Hockey News’ player of the week for Jan. 12-18, 2009 is Calgary Flames left winger Mike Cammalleri.

Cammalleri, 26, recorded five goals and six points in four games, also registering a plus-1 rating and 19:23 average minutes played. The Flames acquired the Richmond Hill, Ont., native on draft day last June for a first round selection. He was rumored to be on the trade block earlier this season, but has settled in nicely with the Flames.

Last week the 5-foot-9, 185-pounder posted two goals in a 3-1 victory over St. Louis. He followed that up with an assist two nights later as the Flames handed San Jose its first regulation home loss of the season. Cammalleri then posted two goals and a plus-3 rating in a loss to Phoenix and finished the week off with a goal against Colorado in a 6-2 loss.
