The Hockey News

The Hockey News player of the week for the period of May 5 to 11 is Philadelphia Flyers center Mike Richards.

Though his team fell behind 2-0 to its cross-state rivals, Richards did his best in Pittsburgh by scoring two goals in Game 1 and notching a shorthanded marker in Game 2.

The plucky pivot has been in the middle of the action for Philly since the start of the playoffs, netting seven goals and 14 points through 14 games.

In addition to his scoring prowess, Richards has played with a physical edge and continues to take care of business in his own end of the ice.
