Fumanti, a soprano with a pop-classical repertoire, will belt out a bilingual version of the Canadian national anthem when the teams face off in Dallas on Wednesday. She says singing at the All-Star game is a huge honour that gives her a chance to express her gratitude to Canada for welcoming her.

Fumanti came to Canada from Italy three years ago and is preparing to launch her second album in March.

She originally planned to become a lawyer or a nun because she likes helping people, but found her talent as a singer when she joined a church choir in Italy as a youngster.

Fumanti was picked to sing at the All-Star game after record company EMI proposed her to the event's organizers.
