Report: Peter Forsberg not throwing in towel on this season just yet

Publish date:

The Forsberg saga continued Tuesday with the International Herald Tribune and Associated Press reporting Forsberg spoke to a Swedish TV station and told them he still holds out hope for retuning for the remainder of this season.

"The foot doesn't feel 100 (percent), but there is still one week left until the deadline," Forsberg told national broadcaster SVT.

This comes less than 24 hours after Forsberg’s agent, Don Baizley, told reporters and GMs that Forsberg’s return this year was “highly unlikely”.

After finishing last season with Nashville, Forsberg has sat out the entire 2007-2008 campaign thus far with nagging foot problems he hasn’t been able to shake.

He has been skating on and off on his own and with various teams throughout Sweden trying to decide if he feels comfortable enough to make a comeback to the NHL.
