Sabres backup G Patrick Lalime sent to minors for 2-game conditioning assignment

Publish date:

Sabres backup goaltender Patrick Lalime has been sent to the minors after agreeing to a two-game conditioning assignment with Portland of the American Hockey League to prepare for Buffalo's busy schedule.

The move was announced Thursday, prior to Buffalo's home game against Montreal. Lalime has an 0-2 record and has appeared in three games this season behind Ryan Miller. Lalime is expected to get more action as the Sabres enter a stretch that will have them playing 15 games this month.

Lalime will play Friday and Saturday against Providence and rejoin the Sabres on Sunday.

The Sabres recalled Jhonas Enroth from Portland to serve as backup against Montreal. Buffalo also hosts the New York Rangers on Saturday.
