Sabres demote MacArthur, make room for Hecht's anticipated return

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Sabres forward Clarke MacArthur was demoted to Buffalo's minor-league affiliate in Rochester on Thursday, opening a roster spot for the anticipated return of veteran Jochen Hecht.

MacArthur had been a healthy scratch for three games before returning to the lineup in a 3-1 loss to Washington on Wednesday. He had 15 points (8-7) in 37 games with Buffalo this season, but was limited to two goals and two assists in his past 15 games.
Hecht has been cleared to practice after missing seven games with a groin injury and could return for the Sabres' next game at Carolina on Saturday.
