ABBOTSFORD, B.C. - Matt Climie made 31 saves as the San Antonio Rampage thumped the Abbotsford Heat 5-1 Friday night in the AHL.

Lance Bouma opened the scoring for the Heat (6-6-1) near the seven minute mark of the first, tipping home Gaelan Patterson’s feed past Rampage Climie.

However, it was all San Antonio (8-3-1) after that.

Mathieu Beaudoin and Peter MacArthur scored twice in less than two minutes late in the opening frame to give the Rampage a lead they would not relinquish.

Beaudoin bounced a shot off Abbotsford defenceman Gord Baldwin and past Heat starter Matt Keetley to even things at one.

Moments later Peter MacArthur put home the rebound off of Victor Tikhonov’s shot making it 2-1.

Tim Stapleton and Andrew Ebbett both had high-quality chances in the scoreless middle frame, but were shunned by Keetley.

San Antonio broke the game wide open early in the final period as Alexandre Picard, Brett MacLean and Stapleton all scored in less than a three-minute span to chase Keetley.

Keetley finished the night with 27 saves in the loss before Leland Irving came in to stop all six shots he faced.
