Next season, Montreal's farm team will move to nearby Laval, Que. But while the St. John's IceCaps are still living and breathing, they're gonna play the games and look good doing it.

The franchise has just released images of a special tribute jersey, to be worn in late November (25-26) against Providence during Military Appreciation Week:

That's an awesome look. Cream may be the go-to for throwback-style sweaters these days, but there's a reason – it pretty much always looks good. These jerseys are modelled after the sweaters worn by members of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment hockey team about 100 years ago, with the caribou logo the most prominent feature. The actual military regiment is best known for its heavy involvement in the First World War's Battle of the Somme.

On top of the caribou logo, this new St. John's creation also pays tribute to the military with a shoulder crest featuring a soldier on top of two chevrons.
