Stars sign defenceman Ivan Vishnevskiy, their first pick of 2006 draft

Vishnevskiy, the No. 27th overall pick, has spent the past two seasons with Rouyn-Noranda of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

"Ivan has exhibited excellent offensive abilities from the blue-line the last two seasons in the Quebec junior league and we look forward to his continued development in our organization," Stars general manager Doug Armstrong said.
