Tampa Bay Lightning recall Jones, Vernace; place Smaby on IR

Publish date:

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled forward Blair Jones and defenceman Mike Vernace from Norfolk of the AHL.

Jones and Vernace were in the lineup for Saturday night's game at Buffalo.

Tampa Bay also placed defenceman Matt Smaby on injured reserve, retroactive to Nov. 12, because of an ankle injury.

Vernace started the year with the Lightning and played in seven games without recording a point. Jones played four games for Tampa Bay earlier this season, recording a goal and an assist.

Smaby was injured against the Pittsburgh Penguins, and has missed the past three games.
