Player News…

Ryan Malone, LW, Tampa Bay Lightning

2008/11/24: Tampa Bay Lightning winger Ryan Malone netted a penalty shot goal, but it did little to detract from his poor defensive performance in a 7-3 loss to New Jersey on Sunday. The former Pittsburgh Penguin was tagged with a minus-4 rating in 17:17 of ice time on the night.

Olaf Kolzig, G, Tampa Bay Lightning

2008/11/24: Tampa Bay netminder Olaf Kolzig was yanked after surrendering five goals on 28 shots midway through the second period of a 7-3 to New Jersey on Sunday. Fresh up from the AHL's Norfolk Admirals, Karri Ramo appeared in relief, allowing two goals on 17 shots.

Martin St. Louis, RW, Tampa Bay Lightning

2008/11/23: Tampa Bay Lightning snipers Martin St. Louis and Radim Vrbata each scored in Sunday's painful 7-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils. Vincent Lecavalier, Ryan Craig and Vinny Prospal all contributed assists to the losing cause.

Scott Clemmensen, G, New Jersey Devils

2008/11/23: New Jersey Devils goaltender Scott Clemmensen stopped 26 of 29 shots in a 7-3 triumph over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday. The career backup has been solid of late, posting two victories and a .925 save percentage in his past two starts.

Zach Parise, LW, New Jersey Devils

2008/11/23: New Jersey winger Zach Parise netted his 13th goal of the season in a 7-3 victory over Tampa Bay on Sunday. Defenseman Mike Rupp also chipped in for the Devils, lighting the lamp for the first time this year.

Injury News…

Kari Lehtonen, G, Atlanta Thrashers

2008/11/24: Atlanta goaltender Kari Lehtonen has been placed on Injured Reserve with a back injury. Lehtonen has appeared in just nine games this season, posting a 2-5-2 record. In a related move the Thrashers have recalled winger Joey Crabb from the Chicago Wolves (AHL). INTEL: Lehtonen's onetime status as a rising star has been hurt the past few seasons by injuries and inconsistency. Ondrej Pavelec appears to be edging Johan Hedberg as Lehtonen's primary replacement.

Mike Smith, G, Tampa Bay Lightning

2008/11/24: Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Mike Smith was absent during Sunday's 7-3 home loss to New Jersey, due to an undisclosed lower body injury. Olaf Kolzig played in his place and shared net duties Sunday with Karri Ramo (called up from the AHL's Norfolk Admirals).
