The time I confused Daniel for Henrik Sedin

In a story this week (in print

and online) the Vancouver Province asked "Is

Daniel Sedin done as an elite offensive player in the NHL?" The jumping off point is his now 14-game goal scoring drought. In the past five games Daniel has played with Henrik on the sidelines, he has zero points and a minus-2 rating. But in the print edition, the picture used was of captain

Henrik Sedin. When you're dealing with identical twins, these mistakes are bound to happen from time to time. Heck, it happened to me before.

In 2009-10, Daniel sustained a broken foot early in the season and missed 18 games. In his brother's absence, Henrik scored 18 points and would go on to win the Art Ross and Hart Trophies that season. My run-in with the Sedins happened a couple months after Daniel's injury when Vancouver visited Toronto Jan. 30. I was attending the morning skate to shoot a video feature on the two and approached the stall labeled "H. Sedin." We were able to get him one-on-one and the first question out of my mouth had to do with how he handled playing without his brother over a prolonged period for the first time in the NHL. "I think you want to ask him," the Sedin said. Then he sat down. Thinking he misunderstood the question, we tried again, but for the second time the Sedin rebuffed my query. It was confusing and a little embarrassing all at once. That's when

Mikael Samuelsson stepped in. Samuelsson's stall was right next to Sedin's and as the twin star sat down for the second time, Samuelsson was having a laugh. He tapped Sedin on the shoulder and pointed to the top of the stall - that's when we all realized the equipment manager had intentionally switched the twins' name plates. Thankfully we all found the humor in it and carried on interviewing DANIEL Sedin one-on-one.
