VANCOUVER - Vancouver Canucks centre Manny Malhotra will sit out Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final.

Malhotra hasn't played in several weeks due to a serious eye injury but he recently started practising with the team.

He skipped an optional morning skate and Canucks assistant general manager Lorne Henning later confirmed that he won't be in the lineup against the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night.

Malhotra hasn't played since a puck was deflected into his eye during a game against St. Louis on March 16.

The 31-year-old Mississauga, Ont., native underwent a number of surgical procedures to save his vision.
