The Red Wings lost a step last season and were finally knocked out of the playoffs by division rival Nashville in Round 1. Each year the same question is asked of the Red Wings: are they too old? While they've done a pretty good job of shrugging off those suggestions recently, the Red Wings will have to prove it all over again to some onlookers.

With Nicklas Lidstrom gone to retirement and Brad Stuart via free agency, Detroit's blueline is recognized as its new weak spot and one full of uncertainty. Is this the start of the Detroit downfall, or will the team rise once again?
