Darnell Nurse put up respectable numbers in his sophomore season with the Soo Greyhounds of the Ontario League. The 6-foot-5 and 195-pound defenseman had 12 goals and 41 points in 68 games and finished the season plus-15, a marked improvement from his rookie season when he was minus-15.

And it is that defensive progression that propelled Nurse into the top 10 of most prospect rankings ahead of the 2013 NHL Draft in New Jersey this Sunday.

THN’s Ryan Kennedy caught up with hulking blueliner ahead of this weekend’s event to discuss winning the OHL Scholastic Player of the Year award, the draft and to also test his football knowledge.
