Many were surprised when Mikhail Grigorenko slipped to 12th overall at the 2012 draft, but the Buffalo Sabres were ecstatic to land the uber-talented center.

At 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, Grigorenko had the frame to make the jump directly to the NHL and, following the lockout, that is exactly what he did.

THN’s Tyson Geick talked to the 18-year-old Russian about adjusting to the NHL, learning the North American game under Patrick Roy in the Quebec League and more.
