Vigilante justice: John Vigilante scores winner as Griffins beat Moose

WINNIPEG - John Vigilante scored the game-winning goal and added an assist as the Grand Rapids Griffins edged the Manitoba Moose 4-3 in American Hockey League action Friday.

With four minutes left in regulation, Vigilante flew towards the Manitoba net and slid the puck past Moose goaltender Cory Schneider's extended left goal pad. Brad May, Francis Pare and Jeremy Williams also scored for Grand Rapids (29-34-6).

Brian Salcido, Sergei Shirokov and Mario Bliznak replied for Manitoba (33-30-6).

Daniel Larsson made 28 saves for the Griffins, while Schneider stopped 22 shots.

May opened the scoring at 4:14 of the first period, firing the puck between Schneider's right shoulder and right goal post.

Pare made it 2-0 Griffins when he took a pass from Riley Armstrong and fired it between Schneider's legs.

Manitoba's power play unit got the Moose on the board at 13:57 of the first when defenceman Salcido fired the puck from the point and watched it sail through traffic and past Larsson.

Shirokov tied it at 14:59 of the second as he escaped on a breakaway and deked Larsson. The tie didn't last for long as Williams beat Schneider over his glove hand 21 seconds later.

Bliznak shot the puck over Larsson to tie the game 3-3, but Vigilante's winner ensured the Moose came up short in their comeback bid.
