Vincent Lecavalier's Fan Shootout answers

Did playing for the Notre Dame Hounds help you make it to the NHL?

Kirk Johnston, North Portal, Sask.

Definitely. I think it's a great school for when you leave home and when you're fourteen years old. I think you mature quicker and you get to play hockey everyday. There are some great coaches at Notre Dame so you definitely get better in life and on the ice as well.

The Southeast Division has proved to have the most potential in recent years. How have you and your team adjusted to these up-and-coming teams?

Justin Davis, Glovertown, Nfld.

There is some great competition in the Southeast and it's getting even better every year. I think we've adjusted pretty well. It's definitely tougher. Atlanta is playing very well, Washington is a team that we've always had good games against and Carolina now is first in the league. It's exciting and definitely harder.

How did it feel to prove the critics wrong when you were named MVP of the World Cup?

Carlyle Mazankowski, Kelowna, B.C.

It wasn't so much for the critics or whoever. I was happy to be part of that club and for Team Canada and winning the championship. That was just an unbelievable experience playing with Mario and all the other guys.

What three visiting arenas do you like playing in the most?

Molly Stasiuk, Kenora, Ont.

Montreal, Toronto and L.A.

Who has impressed you the most in the NHL this year?

Kevin Kelleher, Philadelphia

Ovechkin. I think he is playing very well right now. Not that it's much of a surprise because I knew he was a really good player, but to do that well is just unbelievable at that age. It's nice to see a guy dominate like that, playing that hard, that physical and just playing good hockey.

Which NHL defenseman gives you the most trouble?

Guillaume Poirer, Rimouski, Que.

Zdeno Chara. He's just a big guy. He is 6-foot-9 so he is definitely hard to play against. He's strong physically and he can skate and he can shoot. Chara can pretty much do anything so he is really tough to play against.

Which Version of Patrik Laine Will We See This Season?

The talent is there. The shot is present. But consistency hasn't always been in Patrik Laine's wheelhouse. He's looking good now, and the Blue Jackets will need it to continue as the Finnish winger aims for a big second season in Columbus.
