Washington Capitals goalie Michal Neuvirth named NHL rookie of the month

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Washington Capitals goaltender Michal Neuvirth was named NHL rookie of the month Tuesday.

Neuvirth recorded a 7-3-0 record in October with a 2.15 goals-against average, .926 save percentage and one shutout.

Edmonton Oilers forward Jordan Eberle (eight points) and Montreal Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban (six points) were also considered for the award.

Neuvirth appeared in each of Washington's 11 games in October and shared the NHL lead with seven victories.
