WHL’s Regina Pats rock Blue Jays themed jerseys, raise over $20,000 for Jays Care Foundation

The oldest brand in junior hockey and Canada’s only MLB team came together Friday night for a good cause.

We might still be three months away from baseball season, but the Blue Jays were in action in Regina, Sask. Friday night.

Well, at least that’s what it looked like.

The WHL’s Regina Pats hosted Blue Jays Night Friday at Brandt Centre and donned Toronto Blue Jays themed jerseys for the occasion. In a news release, the Pats said the jerseys went through an approval process with both Major League Baseball and the Blue Jays to ensure a faithful recreation of the Jays uniform in a hockey setting. The result appears to be about as close to an authentic Blue Jays hockey uniform as possible.

Jays outfielder Ezequiel Carrera was also in attendance, modeling the sweater, as the Pats paid tribute to Canada’s only MLB club and raised funds for the Jays Care Foundation.

Through an online auction, the jerseys raised over $20,000 for the Jays Care Foundation, with an official total to be announced next week, according to the Pats.

“This is another example of the tremendous support the Toronto Blue Jays have across our great country,” Andrew Miller, Executive Vice President, Business Operations for the Jays said in a release when the event was announced in August. “Jays Care Foundation will use funds raised through the auction to create opportunities for at-risk children and youth across the country.”

The Jays Care Foundation aims to create social change for children and youth through baseball by getting them involved in the game, building safe spaces in which they can play and supporting organizations dedicated to improving the lives of all Canadian kids.
