ROSEMONT, Ill. - Jordan LaVallee and Kevin Doell had a goal and an assist each as the Chicago Wolves took Game 1 of the Calder Cup final, beating the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 5-4 Thursday.

Bryan Little, Jesse Schultz and Joel Kwiatkowski scored the other goals for Chicago, which went 2-for-4 on the power play. Ondrej Pavelec backstopped the victory with 30 saves for the Wolves.

"We have to play much better defensively," said Wolves head coach John Anderson. "When you score five goals in a championship series you're happy offensively, but when you allow four... I'm not too keen on that."

Alex Goligoski and Kurtis McLean led the way for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, McLean getting two goals and Goligoski adding a goal and three assists.

Ryan Stone also scored for the Penguins, while John Curry made 30 stops

Game 2 is Sunday afternoon at the Allstate Arena in suburban Chicago.
