Boyett changes style to win feature at Santa Anita

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Boyett rallied from off the pace to win the $60,000 feature by three-quarters of a length at Santa Anita on Thursday.

Ridden by Tyler Baze, Boyett ran a mile on the turf in 1:34.98 and paid $13.80, $6.60 and $3.60.

Avare returned $12 and $6.20, while Jules Journey was another length back in third and paid $2.40 to show.

Boyett showed a different dimension from his front-running style. Baze took the 4-year-old gelding off what was expected to be a fast pace going into the clubhouse turn and stayed there.

The victory, worth $36,000, increased Boyett's career earnings to $158,466, with four wins in 13 starts.
