Sunset Glow wins Sorrento Stakes at Del Mar

DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) Sunset Glow led all the way in winning the $200,000 Sorrento Stakes for 2-year-old fillies by 3 1/4 lengths at Del Mar on Wednesday.

Ridden by Victor Espinoza, Sunset Glow ran 6 1/2 furlongs on Polytrack in 1:16.61 and paid $8.60, $4.40 and $2.80.

La Grange returned $3.40 and $2.60, while Heart of Paradise was another 5 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $2.80 to show.

Caval, the even-money favorite, tired badly and was eased in the stretch.

The victory, worth $140,000, increased Sunset Glow's career earnings to $197,645, with two wins in four starts. She was coming off a second-place finish in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot in England in June.
