NEW YORK (AP) Captain Serious, the even-money favorite, won the $70,000 allowance feature for New York breds by4 1/4 lengths on Thursday at Aqueduct.

After battling Bass River Road for the early lead, Captain Serious pulled away from that rival midway on the turn and took command the rest of the way. The 4-year-old gelding trained by Linda Rice and ridden by Jose Ortiz got his fifth win in 11 starts. The time was 1:22.71 for the seven furlongs on the fast track.

Captain Serious paid $4.30, $2.50 and $2.10. Spa City Fever, up for second by a nose, returned $5.60 and $2.80.

Saratoga Snacks paid $2.20 to show as the 2-1 second choice.
