Surfside Tiara wins Anoakia Stakes at Santa Anita

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Surfside Tiara rallied in the final furlong to win the $70,000 Anoakia Stakes for 2-year-old fillies by a half-length Sunday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Surfside Tiara ran six furlongs in 1:10.84 and paid $7.60, $4.40 and $3.20 as the 5-2 third choice in a field of seven.

Uptown Twirl returned $7.60 and $3.60, while Find Joy was another 6 1/2 lengths back in third and paid $6.80 to show at 29-1 odds.

The victory, worth $44,100, increased Surfside Tiara's career earnings to $96,350, with two wins in four starts. It was her first stakes win for Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer.
