NEW YORK (AP) Awesome Gent drew off to a four-length victory over Quijote on Sunday in the $125,000 Jimmy Winkfield Stakes for 3-year-old sprinters at Aqueduct.

The gelding trained by Todd Pletcher got away third as Moon Over a Beauty and Sudden Surprise vied for the lead. Awesome Gent and jockey Manny Franco took command at the top of the lane and quickly pulled clear.

It was the third straight win for the New York bred, making his stakes debut in his first try against open company.

The time was 1:10.60 for the six furlongs.

Awesome Gent paid $9.40, $4.70 and $3.40.

Quijote returned $4.20 and $2.90. King Kranz paid $3.40 to show.
