ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Awesome Luck won the $58,000 feature for California-bred or sired mares by 1 ¼ lengths Thursday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Santiago Gonzalez, Awesome Luck ran one mile in 1:37.97 and paid $30.20, $11 and $7 at 14-1 odds.

Take It Easyplease returned $3.40 and $2.80 as the 3-2 favorite, while Stole a Kiss was another 1 ¾ lengths back in third and paid $3.80 to show.

Awesome Luck was coming off a 13 ½-length loss over one mile on turf on Feb. 21 and seemed to appreciate the change in surface.

"She doesn't seem to handle the grass," trainer Blake Heap said.

The victory, worth $34,800, increased Awesome Luck's career earnings to $96,875, with two wins in 12 starts for owner John Harris.

"It's St. Patrick's Day and we have the green and white colors, so I guess that didn't hurt," Harris said. "I don't know if the jock's Irish, but I guess today everybody is."
