Sheer Pleasure wins Dream of Summer Stakes at Santa Anita

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Sheer Pleasure held off favored Kiss At Midnight by a half-length Sunday in the $100,000 Dream of Summer Stakes at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Martin Garcia and trained by Phil D'Amato, the 4-year-old Sheer Pleasure ran a mile in 1:36.82. She paid $10.20, $4.60 and $3.20 in the race for California-bred or sired fillies and mares.

''She has a lot of speed, you can put her wherever you want to,'' Garcia said. ''I was pretty lucky to be able to ride her again today. They didn't give me any instructions because I know her well, so I took advantage of that fact.''

Sheer Pleasure won for the fourth time in 11 starts and earned $60,000 to push her total to $383,030. She's owned by Little Red Feather Racing and R/M Racing.

Kiss At Midnight returned $3.60 and $2.80, amd Swissarella paid $4.80 to show.
