The Mets' Julio Franco, 48, and Yankees pitcher Roger Clemens, 44, became the oldest batter-pitcher match-up in the major leagues since 1933 during the first Subway Series game at Yankee Stadium on June 15. Franco was 0-for-3 against Clemens, who got the loss despite allowing just two runs over six and one-third innings in the Mets 2-0 victory.
After starting the Subway series at Yankee Stadium 0-for-4, Alex Rodriguez hit a two-run homer against the Mets on both Saturday and Sunday. The Yankees won their final two games against the Mets to finish the Subway Series 3-3 this season.

A melee ensued as Lee, Young, Cubs hitting coach Gerald Perry and Padres pitcher Jake Peavy were all ejected. San Diego won the game 1-0.
