Celebrity World Series Picks
Tom Arnold
Since it's not the Cubs and I'm dating someone from Philly who has great seats, it's a no-brainer. Plus the compassion factor. Philadelphia fans partied so hard at the Jacksonville Super Bowl and still their team came up short, playing the last 3 minutes like they had hangovers. So, they're due. Also, my buddy John Kruk gave his right testicle to the '93 team that lost in heartbreaking fashion, plus Tampa Bay gets this year's Super Bowl. Out of a sense of good old American humanity and decency, I have to go with Philadelphia. They're the better team. Of course, if being the best team was all that mattered I'd be at Wrigley this weekend.
Tim McGraw
I'm picking the Phillies. They have a strong team offensively and defensively, and my roots run deep with the National League. I'm looking forward to catching a game in Philadelphia. [Note: McGraw's father, Tug, pitched for the victorious Phillies in the 1980 Series.]
Julie Henderson
I have to say the Rays in 7. The heart of their lineup just has too much fire power!
Guy Fieri
It's going to be a great World Series, especially Game 1. It will be close, but I think the Phillies' experience over the Rays' youth will help them win.
Jim Norton
I am absolutely picking the Phillies. There's simply no way the powers that be in the universe can let a 150-1 odds team from Florida win the World Series.
Warren Sapp
Rays! Everybody in Philly is gonna kill themselves about losing another championship to a Tampa Bay team!
Jessica White
I'm going with the Rays. It's a Cinderella story. They were underdogs last year and now they're going to the World Series! I love this story. Go Rays!
Marcellus Wiley
Rays win because they have better pitching, better defense and a better story. I can hear the Rocky music in the background right now!
Sarah Burke
I'm going with Tampa in six. In the era of home-run baseball, Tampa plays small ball and has great fundamentals, which will carry them through the series.
Roshumba Williams
I am all for the Phillies! I was born there and, you know, once a Philly girl, always a Philly girl.
Jamie Gold
I'm a lifelong Dodger fan so I can't get behind the Phillies. The Rays have that Cinderella quality going for them, so I'm going with Tampa Bay.
Jenn Brown
I think Rays are going to win it. They had an impressive showing against the Red Sox, and I'm from Florida, so I have to go with the hometown team. I like them and I like their story being the underdog and being a fairly new team. I think they deserve it. They've worked hard and played well all season.
Jason Taylor
I'm taking the Rays because they're new blood and I'm a Florida guy! They had to hold off both Boston and the Yankees to win the regular season, then the Red Sox again to get in the World Series. From worst to first -- nothing's better!
Bruce Davis
The Rays because my financial advisor is from Philly and sleeps red and white.
Mick Foley
I'm picking the Phillies in seven games. I'm not sure the Rays are ready for the type of hostility, and I mean that in the most affectionate way possible, the Phillies faithful will have in store for them.
Kato Kaelin
Rays because they got rid of the word devil in their name, although I think three of the games will be won by 6.
Kyle Korver
I'll say the Phillies in six. I've watched them big time. I love watching them. I think Tampa Bay, I mean, they were hot. I think they might have gotten rattled there at the end, but they came through in Game 7 against Boston. It's hard to say they cant handle the pressure, because they did. Cole Hamel is pitching amazing, their bullpen is the best. These aren't going to be blowout games, it's going to come down to bullpen and pitching in the end, and I think they've got the advantage there.
Chris Jericho
I'm going with the Tampa Bay Rays. You may even find me sporting a Mohawk to show my support.
Nick Swardson
Phillies. I think Mike Schmidt's going to have a big game.
Todd McFarlane
This is the year when a Ray of sunlight will shine bright. Why? Because Tampa has the better pitching staff, pure and simple. In a short series, the upstart Rays will be in most of the games and the edge will go to their first eight inning pitchers. If the games are to be decided in the ninth, then advantage Philadelphia and Brad Lidge. The Rays must treat the games as eight inning affairs. If they do, they win.
Shaun Phillips
The Phillies will win it because we are the better city and the better team.
Bonnie-Jill Laflin
I pick the Phillies because they have a better bullpen, led by Brad Lidge and a great veteran lineup led by Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins.
Amobi Okoye
The Phillies because my agent is from Philadelphia.
Marisa Petroro
The Tampa Bay Rays. They're a young and aggressive team with Evan Longoria giving new meaning to the hot corner.
Alexis Jones
While Tampa Bay is the Cinderella story and it always feels good to root them on, the Phillies are just as hungry and I think their maturity will make all the difference. As for the baseball purisits, both these teams have been built on the farm system and eitehr way, this match up proves that lower payroll teams can be successful and that in itself is inspiring. However, after recently being in Philly, the brotherly love and hospitality they showered me with makes me biased, so I'm hoping the Phillies bring it home!
Terry Crews
I'm going with the Phillies. Old franchise vs. newer franchise. Baseball is all about tradition.
James Lesure
I'd say the Phillies because their fans seem like they've been fully supporting them all season, not just in the playoffs. But the Rays had a great season... and they weren't even selling out their stadium.
David Alan Basche
The Tampa Bay Rays will win because my mom lives in Lake Worth, Florida.
Kevin Stocker
I love the fighting Phils. I think with Rollins and Victorino's on- base percentage and speed at the top of the lineup mixed with Utley, Howard and Burrell all having slugging percentages over .500, the Phils can be lethal. The Rays are fun to watch, but nothing compares to the excitement in Philadelphia during playoff time.
Paul Sotor
Phillies in six. Why? Because by picking the Phillies, I will guarantee the Rays will win. I'm in second-to-last place in Fantasy Football. (thank you very much Derek Anderson). Knocked out of my suicide pool in Week 1 (thank you very much Indianapolis Colts). Why must everything I touch turn to crap?
Ruth Riley
Tampa Bay Rays. They have momentum, home field advantage, and are hitting the ball really well right now!
Joe Jacobi
Tampa Bay Rays. They have young players doing the right thing, the right way, at the right time, and no ghosts in the closet. Who wants to go up against that?
Simon Dumont
I'm going with the Phillies in six. They have a better and deeper pitching staff. They have strong closers and that will be a big advantage for them.
Pitbull
I'm going for Tampa Bay for the simple fact that I love underdogs and it's all about them Florida boys.
LeRoy Neiman
Tampa Bay Rays. They are very young and they eliminated Boston, so I have to go with the Rays.
