The Diamondbacks announced that they acquired Aaron Heilman in a trade with the Cubs on Thursday in exchange for a pair of minor leaguers.

Heilman went 4-4 with one save and a 4.11 ERA in his first season for Chicago in 2009 after being acquired from the Mets during the previous offseason. The Diamondbacks need to rebuild a bullpen that finished with a 4.56 ERA in 2009, the third-worst in the NL, behind only the Pirates and Nationals, who, like the Diamondbacks, finished last in their division last season.

The Cubs will get left-handed pitcher Scott Maine, 24, and infielder Ryan White, 23. Maine was a relief pitcher at Double-A and Triple-A in 2009, finishing with seven saves and a 2.90 ERA. White batted .266 in 116 games at Class A.
