Third baseman Adrian Beltre have agreed to terms on a deal with the Red Sox, SI.com has learned.

Beltre would receive $9 million in 2010, with a player option for 2011 for $5 million. That option could escalate to $10 million if he were to reach a predetermined number of plate appearances in 2010. If Beltre decides to walk after one year, the buyout option will pay him $1 million. The A's were in the bidding for Beltre until bowing out today.

Mike Lowell, the 2007 World Series hero, is still with the Red Sox, but his role for next year is undetermined, if he remains with Boston. Beltre hit .265 with eight home runs in 111 games last season in Seattle. He should benefit from the move from expansive Safeco Park to Fenway.

SI.com first reported that Beltre was close to a deal with the Red Sox.
