Sources: Astros to shake up front office, fire GM

The Astros are expected to shake up their front office, with GM Ed Wade expected to be replaced soon, sources confirm.

Houston president Tal Smith is also expected to retire from the Astros. Smith's contract is believed to be up, and he viewed to be a likely departure. It is believed that Smith was financially taken care of by recently-departed owner Drayton McLane.

Rays GM Andrew Friedman, a Houston product, is a likely target to run the Astros' new regime. But Friedman has strong ties to Rays ownership and won't be easy to lure.
