Phillies call up INF Ronny Cedeno

CINCINNATI (AP) The Philadelphia Phillies promoted infielder Ronny Cedeno for the start of their series against the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night.

Cedeno batted .286 with a homer and 20 RBIs for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He signed a minor league deal with the Phillies in the offseason, was released in March and then signed another contract.

Left-hander Cesar Jimenez was designated for assignment to the minors. Jimenez appeared in two games and threw two hitless innings.
