Report: Padres could make MLB exec Kim Ng first female GM

MLB senior vice president of operations Kim Ng could become the first female general manager in any major sport, as she is currently being considered by the San Diego Padres for their vacant GM position, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reported Wednesday night. 

A former assistant GM with the Yankees and Dodgers, Ng had previously been interviewed for the GM role with the Dodgers, Mariners and the Padres.

Arizona Diamondbacks scouting director Ray Montgomery is also being considered for the front office position with the Padres. Other candidates include: Dodgers scouting director Logan White, ex-Marlins GM Larry Beinfest, Yankees assistant GM Billy Eppler, Rangers assistant GM A.J. Preller, Red Sox assistant GM Mike Hazen and Padres assistant GM A.J. Hinch.
