Red Sox infielder Xander Bogaerts has been cleared by MLB to return from the concussion list and is eligible to do so on Saturday against the Rays, according to a report on Wednesday from Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com.

The 21-year-old landed on the concussion list on Monday after being hit by a pitch last Friday. The move was retroactive to last Saturday. He has since passed cognitive and physical tests administered by the league and will be back with the team on Thursday in Tampa. Team manager John Farrell said Bogaerts already went through some running and throwing exercises in Boston and will go through a full workout on Friday.

Bogaerts is batting .223 with a .333 slugging percentage. The Red Sox are fifth in the AL East.
