Tuesday September 2nd, 2014

San Francisco Giants outfielder and first baseman Michael Morse tweaked his hip in batting practice Monday and will undergo a MRI on Tuesday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Henry Schulman.

Manager Bruce Bochy scratched Morse from the Giants' lineup Monday after Morse sustained the injury.

CORCORAN: Morse's one-year deal with Giants a bigger risk for him than for team

Morse is hitting .280 with 16 home runs and 61 runs batted in so far this season after a 2013 campaign that saw him hit .215 with 13 home runs and 27 RBI. He battled finger and quadriceps injuries in 2013 and only played in 88 games. He has missed time this season with back and foot injuries.

The Giants are 75-63 and sat just 2 1/2 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers Monday night in the National League West.
