Oakland Athletics slugger Brandon Moss had surgery on Thursday to repair a torn right hip labrum, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area's Joe Stiglich reported

According to Stiglich, the first baseman will likely be on crutches for four weeks and can begin running again in about 12 weeks. It's likely he'll be ready for Opening Day of the 2015 season.

The 31-year-old Moss had a monster first half of the season and was selected to his first All-Star team in July. But he tailed off in the second half, batting just .173 with four homers after the All-Star break. Moss finished the season with a .234 average, 25 homers, 81 RBI and .772 OPS. The A's lost to the Kansas City Royals in the American League Wild Card game.
