Report: Athletics do not plan to trade third baseman Josh Donaldson

Thursday November 6th, 2014

The Athletics have no plans to trade third baseman Josh Donaldson, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Donaldson is eligible for salary arbitration for the first time this winter. He earned $500,000 this season, and should see a sizable salary increase through arbitration.

Donaldson, 28, is under club control for four more seasons.

This season, Donaldson hit 29 home runs and drove in 98 runs while batting .255. Donaldson batted .301 and hit 24 home runs in 2013, finishing fourth in AL MVP voting.

The A's are more open to trading pitchers Jeff Samardzija and Scott Kazmir, Rosenthal reports, since both players have only one more season left on their contracts. However, Oakland will not actively shop either player, according to Rosenthal.
