Boston Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino left Wednesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays in the bottom of the fifth with right hamstring tightness.
Victorino's last at-bat came in the fourth when he was hit by a pitch and stole second base. He was was pinch-hit for by Allen Craig the next inning.
Ian Browne of MLB.com reports that the Red Sox are trying to be "conservative" with Victorino after he had back surgery and missed the last two months of the 2014 season, and so manager John Farrell wasn't planning to start Victorino on Thursday because he has started "the past three games on consecutive days."
In 11 games this season, Victorino is batting .143 with no homers and two RBIs.
The Rays beat the Red Sox, 5-7. The teams play Thursday at 7:10 p.m. ET.
