HOUSTON (AP) All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve has left the Houston Astros' game against the Seattle Mariners in the first inning with an injured hamstring.

The Astros led 8-0 in the first when Altuve came up to bat for the second time in the inning Friday night. He pulled up after trying to beat the throw to first on a grounder and hobbled to the dugout. The team says he left with discomfort in his right hamstring.

Altuve grimaced as he untucked his jersey and walked toward the clubhouse before being replaced by Marwin Gonzalez in the second inning.
