Royals Ventura removed after 3 innings for 2nd time

ST. LOUIS (AP) Kansas City Royals right-hander Yordano Ventura was removed Friday due to weakness in his pitching hand after three innings for the second straight start, trailing 2-0 against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Royals infielders had a meeting on the mound with Yadier Molina at the plate before Molina flied out to end the third.

The team had no immediate announcement.

In his last start, Ventura gave up four earned runs in three innings in a loss to the Rangers.

Joe Blanton replaced Ventura in the fourth and worked 2 2/3 scoreless innings.
