The Kansas City Royals placed starting pitcher Yordano Ventura on the disabled list with an ulnar nerve condition
On Saturday, the Star reported Ventura had ulnar nerve irritation, but that the team's trainers believed Ventura wouldn't miss a start.
After a successful bullpen session on Monday, Ventura had been cleared to start Friday.
Yohan Pino will replace Ventura in the Royals' rotation and make Ventura's scheduled start.
Ventura was removed from Kansas City's game on June 12 after just three innings when three fingers in his throwing hand reportedly went numb. Ventura was diagnosed with "hand weakness."
Ventura, the Royals' opening day starter, is 3–6 with a 4.68 ERA in 12 starts during the 2015 season.
The Royals are currently 37–25 and three games up in the AL Central Division.
